1972 - 2022 and still rockin'!
It was 1972, 50 years ago. The high temperature reached 57 degrees, about average for April in Boone. It was not an average day on the Appalachian State University Campus, where Bob Cowan had assembled a team of what could be called a small group of rock and rollers, mavericks, entrepreneurs, and dreamers.
Call them what you like, most referred to them as college kids. The first staff, the first members, the first team assembled to launch Appalachian State University's student-run college radio, WASU.
As you read the comments and see the pictures included in this anthology, keep in mind these are only a fraction, a glimpse, representing the many who have cracked the mic and walked the hallways of WASU. They are all a part of the history, the success, and the on-going legacy of WASU.
